 A walking , cycling , fishing paradise or simply unwind and explore the pretty hamlets and villages of the Creuse Limousin countryside.

Walking and Cycling ...........La Grand Bourg is an excellent place to start your exploration of the area , with every village displaying a notice board showing walking and cycling circuits ranging from 5k to 35k . The routes or circuits take in places of interest from monuments , lakes, standing stones and pretty hamlets and villages, the river Gartempe circuit is within easy access  to walk , take a picnic , cycle or drive.

Fishing ..........

There are many lakes in the area , some virtually unfished with a wide range of species . The river Gartempe runs just outside the village , and the length of the region.

To fish in France you will need to obtain a licence or Carte de Peche, these can be bought at most sporting & fishing stores and most bar tabacs for around 60 euros for a year or you can purchase a one day or 2 week holiday permit for around 10 - 20 euros. If you want to fish for Salmon & Trout you will need to pay extra typically around 10 euros and you are only allowed to fish for them when in season. The extra charge does not apply to holiday permits.

The fishing season varies each year and of course from region to region but local tourist offices or the Mairie will be able to advise you of exact dates.
Waterways are divided into 2 categories (1er et 2eme Categorie) the first category is mainly for trout & salmon.
Rivers & waterways are patrolled often by guardians de peche and by gendarmes, so be sure to have a permit!
